About
The Society in its present form was established in 1958 and grew out of the Anglo Spanish League of Friendship. It is modelled on a much earlier Society of the same name (founded in 1919). “The Society is a registered charity, whose objects are to promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of Britain and Spain through knowledge of each other’s customs, institutions, history and way of life. It is a non-political organisation, and membership of the Society is open to people of any nationality who have an interest in and a love of Spain and her culture”.
Under the presidency of HE the Spanish Ambassador, the Society enjoys the support and cooperation of its Principal Supporters and paid-up members.
Constitution
The affairs of the Society are managed by the Trustees, supported by an Executive Council, and presided by the Chairman. Paid-up members may vote at the Annual General Meeting and other general meetings. Corporate members may vote through their elected representative.
