Would you like to join us on a tour around The City of London? Why not join us on Saturday 3rd December 2011 from 11.00 to 13.00.
We will be meeting at Two Temple Place, Astor Mansions + visit. Two Temple Place is currently housing the glorious William Morris Collection, followed with a walk to churches and monuments via Fleet Street, home of the British Press until 1986, up to St. Paul’s Cathedral where we will be exploring some of the fascinating little lanes still in existence after the City has been destroyed two or three times, by Boudicca or Boadicea, and in the two World Wars.
The tour will finish with a lunch at one of the old local pubs or crypt (paid by each member).
We will be guided by Charmian M. Griffiths, an experienced Blue Badge Guide, who has also offered very popular tours this year to Bucklebury, the home town of the the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

Private Tour of The Spanish Line: Drawings from Ribera to Picasso on Thursday 12 January, Meet 8.45am, Tour 9-9.45am.
The Courtauld Gallery, Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 0RN (Tube stations: Temple, Charing Cross, Embankment, Covent Garden; Train stations: Charing Cross, Waterloo)
Art Historian Dr Zahira Veliz will give a private tour of The Spanish Line before the gallery opens to the public. The exhibition also invites visitors to explore treasures from the Golden Age of Spanish art created by Francisco Pacheco, Antonio Garcia Reinoso, Vicente Carducho, Antonio del Castillo and others. Many of these works have never previously been exhibited and they are presented here in the light of important new research.
Members are encouraged to visit the gallery cafe for a break following the tour before returning to the galleries to view the main collection at their leisure, we advise you to allow until midday. Access: Regrettably the lift to all floors is out of service between 17 Oct 2011 – 13 Jan 2012.

Flamenco Festival 2012
Evening 1 – Flamenco Gala: Dancing to Lorca on Saturday 11th February 2012, 19.30 at Sadler’s Wells, Rosebery Avenue London, EC1R 4TN
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Federico García Lorca’s death, a host of stars from the world of flamenco, led by Rafaela Carrasco, come together in a very special gala to pay tribute to the great poet and dramatist. All of the performances will be inspired by Lorca’s life and work, recognising his status as one of the most influential poets of the last century. More details will be confirmed in the coming months.
Evening 2 – Rafael Amargo: Poet in New York on Saturday 18th February 2012, 19.30 at Sadler’s Wells, Rosebery Avenue London, EC1R 4TN
Rafael Amargo’s shows infuse the purest essence of flamenco with other choreographic trends, creating beautiful contemporary dance. Described by the New York Times as “in a class by itself”, Poet in New York is based on a poem by Federico García Lorca. A true multimedia extravaganza it evokes the time, place and culture in which Lorca was writing through stunning 1930s inspired video and imagery.
Tickets: Discounted price for each evening of £23 Members and £25 Non-Members (sold to the general public at £28). Please note that we have a limited number of tickets for these two events and they will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
