Dear friends of the Anglo-Spanish Society,
We thought you might be interested to know about the upcoming presentation of the book ‘A Pilgrim in Spain’ by Christopher Howse organised by the Society in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes Londres. The author will be in conversation with the writer and journalist Jimmy Burns.
Christopher Howse has spent more than two decades exploring Spain. For him, its centuries-old cathedrals, monasteries and shrines demand pilgrimage more than tourism. With an eye for the humorous and strange, he spends time in Soria and Silos, Yuste and Segovia, before turning from the pilgrim destination of Santiago de Compostela to the valleys of Extremadura, where the Virgin of Guadalupe took the Spanish to an unknown world.
Christopher Howse writes leaders and features and reviews for The Daily Telegraph, which he joined in 1996 as obituaries editor. His Saturday column, “Sacred Mysteries”, is on religion. He also comments frequently and blogs on the uses and abuses of the English language.
