Members and friends of the Anglo-Spanish Society are invited to join us at our third annual Classical Concert. We are delighted that composer and pianist Marcos Fernandez Barrero who won the Telefonica-02 grant from the society, will be performing his own work ‘Impressions of Barcelona’. The evening will also feature soprano Laura Ruhi Vidal who will sing pieces by Eduard Toldra, Enrique Granados and Francisco Barbieri, while clarinettist Eduardo Alfageme will play Falla’s ‘Dos Piezas Del Amor Brujo’ and viola-player Isabel Villanueva will treat us to a suite of Spanish dancing songs from Efrem Zimbalist’s ‘Sarasateana’. This is just a small taster of what is set to be a hugely varied programme also featuring guitarist Maria Camahort, double-bass player Damian Rubido Gonzalez and pianist Carlos Guerrero Bullejos.

The concert will take place in the beautiful surrounds of St Paul’s Church in Wilton Place with the Society’s President The Spanish Ambassador as our guest of honour. At the interval there will be a chance to meet performers and fellow guests over a glass of wine and some delicious cheeses from specialist Spanish wine society Bacchanalia.

With grateful thanks to the support of the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs at the Embassy of Spain.
